Anniversary 2012

Tried tele-skiing at snowbasin (yes, lunges all the way down the hill) spent the night at Ogden Marriott, met the byu basketball team, ate some good Mexican food, shopped at the salomon outlet, and just had fun.

Morgan got his yellow belt.

Morgan has stuck with karate long enough to get his yellow belt. He has been enjoying it and his instructor is great, they hosted a sledding day for all the students, so fun. Morgan spent more time down with the free chili and hot cocoa, he loves food, and loves to cook.(he always come to my rescue when I forget about something cooking and saves the meal)!


His teacher was throwing tricks off a jump they built. You might be able to see him in one of the pics.

Fun gifts from Jenn!

The kids get so excited getting gifts from Jenn. She always takes a lot of thought into her selections to find just the right present. This year she sent them robots that you build and then use the packaging as part of the process. They had a blast!

Christmas carson

Carson kept making fun of "elf on a shelf" that some people do at christmas time. Here are some pics, I'm thinking next year I'll hire him out as a real elf on shelf. Yep.

Malia dance recital

Malia couldn't wait. I wondered how she would do on her first recital. I thought she will either cave or blossom. And blossom she did. All her favorite things in one event: dressing up, dancing, and getting applauded by her family and others. She performed better than in practice, and did so well! It was fun to watch her in her element, I think she will go far in dance. She asks Carson to dance all the time and usually he hesitantly complies. If not, she will dance with ruby. She loves to twirl, and has some amazing little moves. It will be fun to see where she goes. Malia has also been doing a lot of drawings as well. She's wrote a little book about a princess and rubber bands. It was 2 pages long. She also drew a picture of daddy wearing a Justin beiber shirt while saying a prayer
and just laughs when she shows it to him.
The other day we were playing store and she said,
"The most expensive thing in the store is a hug and a kiss, but I will give you one." She's our little star and we love her.

1 year follow up post surgery, Morgan

Morgan, Malia and I spent most the beautiful day going from hospital to hospital for check ups and lab work at the U.  I still think primary children's is one of the kindest, most caring environments outside the temple.  Every nurse, doctor is so friendly and helpful.  When Morgan started crying because he found out he had to do some blood work(shots) nurses came and just surrounded him, some with baskets of toys and goodies to pick from.  Malia thought she'd help out by picking some toys out for him.  Even the lady who made our sandwiches when we took a break before getting shots came and sat by Morgan to tell him about her sister, who also had one kidney.  Morgan said she really made him feel better, and not just because she gave him a free ice cream cone.  Her name was MichaelAnn.    Then, as we were eating, in came a choir singing christmas carols.  It was all so nice to get our minds off the problems that bring us in there in the first place.  But we are always glad to leave.  It's one place where I have no guilt eating cookies to make me feel better.  I ate four.  And missed my workout on top of that.
On a darker note, I went to back up my phone tonight to update it and it completely crashed.  I lost all my contacts and photos. So frustrating.  I had planned to blog all about malia tomorrow since it's her first dance recital.  I lost it all.

Some days just really suck.

Temple square

One of our favorite things to do is visit temple square, see the lights, eat yummy food in the the lion house cafe, and visit gramma Ruth at her art show in the joseph smith memorial building.
We met Sara and her kids there, and walked through the art show. The kids got to meet some awesome artists, eric dowdle, christopher creek, etc. Then we ordered turkey pot pies, hot chocolate and cookies at the cafe in the jsb. After a good sugar high, we walked it off through temple square. The highlight for the kids is too go seethe christus statue up 'in space.'
It was a beautiful night, I almost want to go do it again, or at least go to the cafe again for pot pies and cookies!
