Busy week but no pictures. Why? When you want nicer pictures you tend to buy a nicer, bulkier camera. But if your a minimalist like myself, it's very hard to take the camera places because of it's size. I rarely like to take more things with me than I have to. So if anyone knows of a tiny camera that takes great pictures, let me know!!!!
I also did my first Triathlon....and try I did. The Deer Creek Triathlon was a great race to do a first tri. It was low key and so beautiful. My only anxiety was getting in the frigid lake at 6:30 am. Luckily, the water temp was warmer than the air temp and not near what I expected. Wes, as usual, never dons a wetsuit, the toughest guy I know and did the swim quickly.
I have to admit there was one point where I thought, " what am I doing here out in the middle of the lake at 6:30 am???"
Thanks to Dory from "Finding Nemo" for the mantra that kept me going, "just keep swimming, swimming swimming...."
The bike ride was fun. It was hard to stay focused on the trail when it was such a nice sunrise over the lake. But the frequent cattle crossing and sandy washouts kept my full attention.
The transition from bike to run went fine until two people wearing tennis shoes on the bike caught up and jumped off their bikes and started the run. Okay, so there's is on tiny annoyance with clipless pedals and that's having to change them but anyone will tell you it's worth it.
I ended up doing the run a bit slower than anticipated but I wasn't pushing it hard. I couldn't. There's something that happens to your whole psyche (and physical body for that matter) when you find out your pregnant the day before a race. Yessirree. So I took it easy and it turned out to be a fun, enjoyable race. I placed 7th in women of only about 50 participants. I most likely won't be doing the Xterra Tri now, morning sickness isn't the best training partner. There's always next year. For now i am shifting my sights on the excitement that only a new little life being can provide.
And now for a week in Bear Lake. ahhhhh.

Hi, I just came across your page while surfing around, and I felt your pain in terms of wanting to take good quality photos without lugging a huge camera around. I have an Olympus FE model, and it's AWESOME. I highly recommend it. You can get something tiny for less than $300 which is up to 12 megapixels. Just a thought. Good luck. :) Heather
Congrats Jess! on the Triathalon and the baby. It will be fun to see you a little more often now that your mom is down here.
Congratulations on the race and especially on new baby #3!
Jess
Congrats! I am glad you had such a good experience, and can I just say that my third baby has actually been easier than the first two...isn't that what you wanted to hear! the funny thing is I found out I was pregnant during a triathlon, ok it was actually right after when I started wondering why I kept dry heaving on the bike! anyway good for you on the triathlon I wish I could have done it with you...I am excited for your new little one!
Yea, we can have #3 together.....I hope you are as nervous as I am! And maybe you will have a girl too, then we really can have some fun:) Congrats! And I agree, morning sickness is not the best training partner!
Way to go Jess!!! That's awesome you finished your first tri. And even cooler you did it pregnant. Sorry you haven't been feeling well... hopefully it will be short-lived. I loved swimming when I was pregnant so keep it up!
Congrats Jess that is crazy that you could do that i am impressed! way to go! Congrats on the baby!
I don't have one myself but I know a lot of people who really like the Nikon Coolpicks (ads on tv include Ashton Cutcher) because it is slim but still takes awesome pics. Good luck with the morning sickness!
Jess,
Congratulations! I can't believe you placed 7th while "taking it easy." You're an amazing woman. I hope this pregnancy goes smoothly, and we find tons of time to ski.
